about
Fresh off his support slot with Black Sea Dahu on their German tour, Tal Arditi has released his next single, You And I - a fresh Brazilian-infused pop-rock song with John Mayer-esque guitar-work.
The track was written under a starry night in Senegal and describes a beautiful moment:
“I knew it was temporary. A fleeting moment in time, but that’s what made it so special - it was never to be repeated.”
The song was written when Tal went on a month-long surfing and songwriting trip to Senegal. Tal struck up an instantaneous friendship with many of the musicians on the scene. By the second night, he was already participating in improvisational jams.
Around this time Tal developed a guitar line that went around in his head. Set against the background of the colours and sounds of Senegal, the song began to take shape. Musically, the song is influenced by hip-hop, rock, Brazilian music and flamenco.
The song is the first of five to feature on Tal’s next EP, “Open Heart” which will be released in 2024 on Mouthwatering Records.
lyrics
You and I
Looking up
Two days in December
Crystal sand
Sky is red
Trying to remember
They can see it from out of space
You were whispering in my ear
They can see it from out of space
You know you know you know
It's not fair how good it felt
Your sweet breath on my skin
Making an effort to take
My soul my soul my soul
You and I
Looking up
Two days in December
Crystal sand
Sky is red
Trying to remember
The stars above looked all the same
Little shiny drops in the sky
I could see the reflection
In your eyes your eyes your eyes
Even though the night was warm
I was shivering all along
Time stopped we both got quiet
Nothing left to hide
You and I
Looking up
Two days in December
Crystal sand
Sky is red
Trying to remember
I think we should make it last
You were whispering in my ear
It just feels like the perfect place
You know you know you know
Plenty of reasons to go away
But in the end I think I'll stay
Temptation got me and it wont
Let go let go let go
Temptation got me and it wont
Let go let go let go
You and I
Looking up
Two days in December
Crystal sand
Sky is red
Trying to remember
Trying to remember
Trying to remember
