about
The third single from Tal's EP is about the inevitable fear and self-doubt that one experiences when expressing themselves honestly to the world.
When Tal began to write songs as a singer/songwriter, he felt completely exposed. He could no longer hide behind the guitar and complex musical decisions, in the way he had previously in his jazz projects. Despite his fears of being laughed at, Tal felt he absolutely had to sing and write about what he truly felt. He was compelled to do it. This song is about doing what you need to do and pushing through fear.
The music is influenced by Tal's love of Beck, with subtle nods to electronic music genres like UK Drum & Bass, Woodkid and Jose Gonzales, and one of Tal's favourite songwriters, John Lennon. Tal created the song's soundscape by layering acoustic guitar, banjo samples and blending samples in his signature half acoustic/half electronic style.
lyrics
Falling
Try to hold in
Almost reaching
To my dreams
Turning
People yearning
I am burning
Falling down
Into the ground
Watching
People walking
No one’s talking
Their eyes closed
I’m feeling
Like I’m dreaming
It’s misleading
